Commerce Days Celebrated

Last February 8 - 10, 2010, the Commerce department of St. Peter’s College of Ormoc celebrated their Commerce Days- a three-day event full of activities.

On the first day in the morning (February 8, 2010) they conducted a symposium entitled “Ethics and Practices of a Christian Entrepreneur” with Mr. Christopher Fernandez as resource speaker. The third year and fourth year students attended a symposium about “Landing a Job” which is very important to them together with Professor Freni Casas as their speaker. The sessions were held at the Grade School Audio Visual Center.

On the second day (February 9, 2010), fun games and a feeding program were their activities. The fun games included chess, scrabble, volleyball, and Filipino games like patintero, slipper game and sack race. These were played at the SPC outer quadrangle and lounge area. In the afternoon, both the department and club officers of the Commerce Department had a feeding program to some street children at the SPC Gym and presented a short program for them as well.

The last day event (February 10, 2010) was the Recognition Day held at the St. Benedict Socio-Pastoral Center. The graduating commerce students prepared short thanksgiving messages specifically addressed to their beloved parents. There were also video presentations, and giving of roses as a sign of love and gratitude to their parents. Professor Freni Casas the Academic Dean of the Commerce Department gave a little time to Dr. Teresita Tugonon, our beloved Dean of College, wherein each student gave a flower as a symbol of thanksgiving to her, for her genuine love and the knowledge she imparted to the College students. Sr. Mary Frances Dizon, OSB, Professor Doris Zamarro, together with Professor Ma. Lourdes Duran attended the program to witness the Recognition day.

The active participation of the Commerce students and most especially by their energetic Academic Dean, Professor Freni Casas made the celebration a huge success!
