SPC Celebrates 96th Founding Anniversary


St. Peter’s College of Ormoc celebrated its 96th Founding Anniversary last February 25-26, 2010 together with the students from the Grade School, High School, and College Unit, Faculty members, Non-Teaching staff and Parents.

The two-day celebration started with a fun run around the city participated by all SPCians, led by the SPC Bikers, and escorted by two Police Officers . It was followed by a Holy Mass in the SPC Gym officiated by Fr. Dennis Molabola with the BYM Choir headed by Sr. Stephanie Zamorras, OSB. Right after the mass is the awarding of certificates and plaques to the school’s loyal and ever active teachers and non-teaching staff.

The last day of celebration started as early as 7:45am with a Morning Praise led by the High School Unit. It was followed by Field Demonstrations from the Grade School and High School, Dance Club members of the High School Unit, PE class of the College Unit, and the champion of the Cheer dance Competition (Intrams 2009-College Unit) – the Eagles of the Education Department. Parlor Games, Pig Hunting, Bingo Socials, Career Tasks, and the Pet Show started simultaneously right after the Field Demo. The afternoon activities consisted of Exhibition Games participated by the Basketball and Volleyball Varsity Players of the High School and College Unit, some High School Faculty members, and non-teaching staff. At exactly four in the afternoon, the ‘Talent Show’ hosted by Sir Kai, Ma’am Berly, and Norman began.

It was participated by three teams representing each unit. Each team consists of four students, one alumna, one faculty member, and one parent. Representatives of the College Unit emerged as winners with a total score of 152, followed by the High school Unit representatives with 148 points, and then the Grade School Unit Representatives with 146 points.

The prizes were given by Sr. Mary Frances Dizon, OSB, the school President.

SPCians not only showcased their talents, they also showed the real essence of unity and sportsmanship. They are very thankful to God Almighty for His continued help and guidance to the SPC Community.
