HRM Students Conducts Coastal Clean Up

The HRM Department of St. Peter’s College of Ormoc came out cleaning up the shoreline of Ormoc Bay last July 16 at 6:00 in the morning. The main purpose of this activity is to educate the public and persuade students to participate in solving the problem of marine debris in Ormoc Bay. This community service participated by the HRM students together with Dr. Doris Zamarro, the HRM Academic Dean.

Each student brought one sack and other cleaning materials such as brooms and gloves. Students were so excited to participate in this activity. “We don’t want fishes to be poisoned by the trash surrounding them.” The HRM students were inspired by these lines and as a result they all know what to do. They came up picking barbed wire, drug paraphernalia, masks, plastics, shoes, dead hog and other non-biodegradable materials. The activity ended at 9:00 in the morning. According to Ms. Joan Bermudo, the president of the HRM Department, “This is just the beginning of leadership by example.”

HRM students in SPC believe that removing litter from the coastline is one way of giving life to other creations.
